Indian Summer
It’s that time of year again better known as "Indian Summer" Some speculate this weather phenomenon is named after the Native Americans because they were the first to recognize the pattern. They used the mild weather to hunt and harvest crops in preparation for the winter. Another theory suggests in the following context, "Indian" is used to mean false, so an "Indian Summer" is a false summer.
Regardless of the meaning it’s a beautiful time here in Eufaula Alabama and chances are we will never know the origin of the phrase. What we know to be true is the 34th Annual Indian Summer Arts and Crafts Festival is upon us. The beautiful streets of historic down town Eufaula will be converted into Arts, Crafts festival, with music and kids Activities for a fun filled weekend.
