Landmark Park will offer two exciting and educational bird workshops this winter. Visitors can learn about these fascinating and lovely creatures found in our local forests and our own backyards. “Attracting Backyard Birds” will take place on January 9 and “Hummingbirds” will take place on January 31.
Sheri Devouassoux and Rick Ingram will take an in-depth look at attracting wild birds to your back yard. Topics will cover common types of birds you can expect to attract, seed and feed selection, feeder and water maintenance, birdhouse location, and photographing feathered friends.
Fred Basset a certified master bird bander who is president of Hummingbird Research, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the study and preservation of hummingbirds and neotropical migrants, will conduct the annual Hummingbird workshop. He will share facts about the nesting habits, diet, and migration patterns of hummingbirds.
Both workshops begin at 10 a.m. and are held in the Interpretive Center Auditorium. The workshops are free with paid gate admission. Regular park admission is $4 for adults, $3 for kids and free for members. Registration is required. Please call the park to let us know you are coming.
